If you are editing legends, make sure you don't add anything merely edit what is already there. Also the entry in english.txt, must exactly match the one in script.txt, although you would get a different error if you didn't do that. Try using easylife from our tools page to automate the conversion into dat files.

Hi,

I had exactly the same problem... When I loaded the game, it just gave me the first letters of each slot (title and objects...)(and, actually, it wasn't the first letter!!!)
I realized that it was because I added a line for legend in the script. Well, DON'T DO THAT... Edit an already existing legend (like the "Cambodia, 1986") and precise it in the english.txt also. If it still doesn't work, check also that you didn't add an extra level in the script.txt instead of editing an already existing one. I think (but I'm not sure) that the number of levels in the script.txt should always be the same (8 levels?).
Good luck and tell me if it's improving...

JB

It sounds like you edited the english.txt file and added an extra level name what you should have done is change not add the level name

I had the same problem: but once I forgot to paste the new string.h file and it worked: try deleting it.
